The Origin of the Optics Techniques Department

Established in 2023, the Department of Optics holds a unique academic standing within the local and Arab academic community and plays an active and influential role in the technical, health, and medical fields, by providing competent and qualified technical personnel in specialized fields of vision care to meet the country’s needs in line with medical and economic development requirements, and by ensuring a sufficient teaching staff at universities and institutes. It also continuously develops curricula and study plans for all levels to keep pace with the latest advancements in vision care. Students become leaders in their educational environment by graduating optometry technicians to healthcare institutions who practice compassionate care grounded in solid scientific principles to provide safe patient care, The mission of the Department of Optometry at the College of Medical and Health Sciences is to direct and utilize all its resources to achieve excellence in education, research, and patient care, and to contribute to improving human health and preventing diseases throughout Iraq by providing medical services and care in the field of optometry, in accordance with ethical and professional traditions and values.
