Nanotechnology within a scientific course at the College of Health and Medical Technologies – Al-Dour
Under the patronage of the President of the Northern Technical University, Professor Dr. Alia Abbas Al-Attar, and under the supervision of the Dean of the College, Assistant Professor Dr. Maqsood Adel Mahmoud, the Department of Physical Therapy Techniques organized during the current month of April a scientific course on: (Nanotechnology), delivered by Assistant Lecturer Haider Subhi Faisal – Head of. Student affairs and registration, the target group was College employees. The course included three main topics:
1- How was nanotechnology discovered?
2- What is nanotechnology in real life?
3- What are the risks of nanotechnology?
The course showed that:
1- Nanotechnology, through the use of nanoparticles and carbon nanotubes, provides cheap and effective methods for water desalination and purification, which makes obtaining pure drinking water in poor countries easy.
2- Silver nanoparticles are used in air filters to get rid of unwanted odors.
3- Nanoparticles are now used in the manufacture of scratch-resistant glasses, crack-resistant paints, anti-graffiti coatings, clear sunscreens, stain-resistant fabrics, and self-cleaning windows.
The course came out with many recommendations, the most important of which are:
1- The need to pay attention to increasing awareness and advertising in international forums about the importance of nanotechnology to ensure the mutual participation of Arab countries between Arab, foreign and European researchers, whether through scientific research or public lectures at existing conferences, to increase interaction and benefit from this technology.
2- Working to increase awareness of the importance of nanotechnology in construction industry applications in Iraq and other countries.
