The strategic plan at the college
Under the patronage of the President of Northern Technical University, Prof. Alia Abbas Al-Attar, and under the supervision of the Dean of the Faculty, Assistant Prof. Maqsood Adel Mahmoud, the Quality Assurance and University Performance Department at the university, in cooperation with the Quality Assurance Division at the college, held a seminar entitled “The College’s Strategic Plan” as part of its sustainable development activities. The seminar was presented by Dr. Ghassan Jassim Hadi and Mazen Nazir Farhan.
This strategic plan stems from the vision and mission of the Faculty of Health and Medical Technologies/Al-Dawr, and its relentless pursuit of academic and research excellence and community service, in line with the five-year strategic plan of the Northern Technical University. This plan was prepared using a participatory scientific methodology based on an analysis of internal and external realities and the diagnosis of strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and challenges, in order to chart a clear and integrated course that will guide the college’s progress in the coming years. This plan aims to enhance the quality of academic programs, develop infrastructure and human resources, support scientific research and innovation, and strengthen community and institutional partnerships. It also focuses on building an advanced educational environment that contributes to graduating competent cadres capable of meeting the needs of the local and regional labor market and keeping pace with global developments in the fields of health and medical technologies. The college is also committed to integrating sustainability principles into all areas of its work, in line with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) adopted by the United Nations, particularly those related to good health and well-being (Goal 3), quality education (Goal 4), gender equality (Goal 5), decent work and economic growth (Goal 8), industry, innovation, and infrastructure (Goal 9), and partnerships for the goals (Goal 17). The symposium also provided a comprehensive overview of the mechanisms for preparing and implementing the college’s strategic plan, based on the latest evidence from the technical and health education sector. The speakers presented a series of topics related to the development of academic and administrative performance, quality assurance, and future planning for the college. This was done by explaining the concept of strategic planning, formulating a vision and mission, analyzing the current situation using the SWOT methodology, and identifying development goals in education, research, and infrastructure. The seminar also presented mechanisms for implementing strategic programs, methods for monitoring progress, and the importance of performance indicators, governance, and quality in ensuring results. The seminar concluded with a set of recommendations aimed at supporting the sustainable development process and enhancing the college’s readiness for academic accreditation requirements.
