Clean Energy and Its Role in Reducing Global Warming
The College of Health and Medical Techniques held a seminar titled “Clean Energy and Its Role in Reducing Global Warming,” delivered by Assistant Professor Mustafa Talib Salim, with the participation of a number of faculty members, students, and those interested in environmental issues. The session was part of scientific activities aimed at promoting environmental awareness and spreading a culture of sustainable development.
The session addressed the importance of clean energy as one of the most prominent modern solutions to combat global warming and climate change, given the heavy reliance on traditional energy sources such as coal, oil, and natural gas, and the harmful emissions they cause, which lead to rising temperatures and climate changes that directly affect the environment, human health, and the global economy.
The lecturer explained that clean energy relies on renewable and environmentally friendly sources, most notably solar, wind, hydroelectric, and bioenergy, noting its significant role in reducing greenhouse gas emissions and preserving natural resources for future generations.
The course aimed to introduce the concept of clean energy and its importance in protecting the environment, as well as to explain the causes of global warming and its effects on the climate and humanity, and to introduce modern technologies used in renewable energy production, in addition to promoting environmental awareness regarding the importance of rationalizing energy consumption and supporting sustainable environmental initiatives.
The session also featured a discussion of the most significant challenges facing the implementation of renewable energy projects and ways to address them through supporting scientific research and developing policies and legislation that encourage the transition to sustainable energy.
At the conclusion of the session, participants issued a number of recommendations, the most important of which were expanding the use of clean energy sources and encouraging investment in solar and renewable energy projects.
