Academic leadership and the path to quality... Our college organizes a panel discussion on the role of university leadership in achieving institutional accreditation
Under the patronage of the President of Northern Technical University, Prof. Dr. Alia Abbas Al-Attar, and under the direct and field supervision of the Dean of the Faculty of Health and Medical Technologies/Al-Dour, Assistant Prof. Dr. Maqsood Adel Mahmoud, and as part of its ongoing activities aimed at achieving international quality standards and academic excellence, the college organized a specialized panel discussion entitled: “The Role of University Leadership in Achieving Institutional Accreditation.” Details and context of the panel discussion The panel discussion was presented by Assistant Professor Amna Muhannad Abdulrahman, who reviewed in a scientific and systematic manner the strategic and pivotal role played by leaders in academic institutions. The session focused on how to transform the culture of quality from mere slogans and theoretical discourse into actual, practical practices that steadily lead the educational institution toward obtaining official accreditation in accordance with national and international standards. Strategic planning and leadership: This theme focused on how to intelligently formulate the college’s vision and mission to ensure full compliance with locally and internationally recognized institutional accreditation standards.
Providing a supportive environment: The researcher discussed the role of leadership in optimally directing human and material resources, in addition to developing infrastructure and scientific laboratories to meet comprehensive quality requirements.
Spreading a culture of excellence: The responsibility of leadership in creating a motivating environment for teaching and administrative staff and students was highlighted, urging them to strictly adhere to high performance standards and continuous evaluation methodology.
Data-driven decision-making: The workshop emphasized the importance of relying on periodic self-assessment reports to address weaknesses, ensuring continuous improvement and sustainable development.
At the conclusion of the session, the college dean emphasized that obtaining “institutional accreditation” is not merely a routine administrative goal, but rather an international certification of the soundness of the educational process and the quality of its outputs. The Dean’s Office considered successful leadership to be the main driver of the team’s achievement of this significant milestone, praising the outstanding methodological approach presented by Assistant Professor Amna Muhannad, which clearly contributed to drawing up a comprehensive roadmap for all units working in the college to improve academic performance.
